ABOUT ME

Let me take you through a bit of my story – it's a rollercoaster, but every twist and turn has shaped who I am today, an engineer who’s seen a fair bit of the world.

It all started in my undergrad days. Before I even thought about moving out of my folks’ place at 24, I hit this major milestone – I passed the FE Civil Exam and snagged my EIT license. That moment was huge for me; it was like the first real step into the engineering world.

Then came the big leap. I moved out of my parents' house after I graduated from Fresno State with my bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering and landed my first engineering job. But life had its own plans. I lost my first job pretty soon after and ended up in the grind of job searching and interviews. Spent a good eight months in that loop.

But then, Oregon happened. I landed this cool engineering job, and it was a total game-changer. Those two years there? They were about finding who I was and what I really wanted. And what I wanted was to learn more – really dive deep. That's when I hit the books again for my master’s in Structural Engineering at UC San Diego. Scary? Yeah, for sure. Worth it? Every bit of it.

Grad school was tough but awesome in its own way. It's where I really found my stride. Then, with my new degree and skills in hand, I joined Kleinfelder in San Diego. An amazing place to work. Great projects, incredible people. It's there I truly grew into my own as an engineer.

Oh, and 2018 was another big year. While at Kleinfelder, I went for my PE license with a focus in Structural Engineering. Didn't nail it on the first go – stumbled on the survey test – but I got there. Stamping my first set of plans with that PE license in hand? Nothing short of amazing.

Fast forward to now, and here I am, a Licensed Bridge Engineer with the State of California. Looking back at everything – from getting that EIT license in undergrad to the challenges and wins at Kleinfelder – it's been quite the ride.

So, here’s my message to you: embrace the ups and downs, take risks, face challenges head-on, and keep pushing for what you want. If my journey’s taught me anything, it’s that you’ve got to dive into this engineering world with both feet and make your own waves. Let’s do this together!
