HOW DO I REGISTER FOR THE FE CIVIL EXAM?

Registering for the FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Civil Exam involves several steps, typically conducted through the website of the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES). Here's a general guide to the process:

1. Create an NCEES Account:

- Visit the NCEES website (ncees.org) and create an account.

- Provide your personal and educational details as required.

2. Review Eligibility Requirements:

- Before registering, make sure you meet the eligibility requirements for the FE exam. These requirements can vary by state or jurisdiction.

- Some states require approval before you can register for the exam, while others allow you to register directly with NCEES.

3. Apply Through Your State Board (If Required):

- In some states, you may need to apply for approval from your state engineering board before you can register for the exam. This process can require submitting transcripts and other documentation.

- Check with your state board for specific procedures.

4. Register for the Exam:

- Once you have an NCEES account (and state approval if necessary), log in and select the option to register for the FE Civil Exam.

- Choose a test center and a date. The FE exam is offered year-round at NCEES-approved Pearson VUE test centers.

5. Pay the Exam Fee:

- You will be required to pay an exam fee during the registration process. This fee varies but is typically around $175.

- Payment is usually made online via a credit or debit card.

6. Prepare for the Exam:

- After registration, start your preparation. Utilize study materials, practice exams, and other resources to ensure you're well-prepared.

- Familiarize yourself with the FE Reference Handbook, which is available for free on the NCEES website and is the only reference material allowed during the exam.

7. Confirm Exam Details:

- NCEES and/or Pearson VUE will send you a confirmation email with your exam appointment details. Ensure that you understand the time, location, and any specific instructions for the exam day.

8. Check for Updates:

- Regularly check your email and NCEES account for any updates or changes to your exam schedule or testing policies.

Remember to start the registration process well in advance of your desired test date, as test centers can fill up quickly. Additionally, familiarize yourself with the policies and procedures for exam day, including what ID you need to bring and what items are allowed in the test center.
