HOW LONG IS THE FE CIVIL EXAM? A COMPLETE TIME BREAKDOWN.

The FE (Fundamentals of Engineering) Civil Exam is a timed exam with a total appointment time of approximately 6 hours. Here's a complete breakdown of how this time is allocated:

1. Nondisclosure Agreement and Tutorial (18 minutes)

- Before the actual exam begins, you will be required to read and agree to a nondisclosure agreement (2 minutes).

- Following the nondisclosure agreement, there is an 8-minute tutorial designed to familiarize you with the format of the computer-based test (CBT).

2. Exam Time (5 hours and 20 minutes)

- The exam itself consists of two sessions, each 2 hours and 40 minutes long.

- There are 110 questions in total, which are typically split evenly between the two sessions (55 questions per session).

- The exam includes a mix of traditional multiple-choice questions and alternative item types like fill-in-the-blank, point-and-click, and drag-and-drop.

3. Scheduled Break (25 minutes)

- After the first session (2 hours and 40 minutes), there is a scheduled 25-minute break.

- The break is optional, but it's the only time during the exam that you can access your locker and leave the exam room, for example, to use the restroom or eat a snack.

- Note that if you finish the first session early, the extra time does not get added to your break or second session.

4. Second Session (2 hours and 40 minutes)

- After the break, you will resume with the second session of the exam, which also lasts 2 hours and 40 minutes.

Total Time Allocation

- Nondisclosure Agreement and Tutorial: 18 minutes

- First Exam Session: 2 hours and 40 minutes

- Scheduled Break: 25 minutes

- Second Exam Session: 2 hours and 40 minutes

- Total Appointment Time: Approximately 6 hours

It's important to manage your time effectively during the exam, especially since some questions may take longer to solve than others. Familiarizing yourself with the format of the exam and practicing with timed mock exams can help improve your time management skills for the actual test day.
